The Diocese of Agartala
concluded a three-month training program for full-time catechists, marking a
significant milestone in the spiritual journey of fifteen dedicated candidates.
The training, which commenced on January 6th and concluded on April 5th, was
held at the Jeevadhara Pastoral Centre, Champaknagar, Agartala. The three-month
course was carefully structured to cover essential aspects of faith formation. In
addition to these, the candidates received training in other essential skills
necessary for effective catechesis. Throughout the training, the candidates
received spiritual and intellectual guidance from experienced formators.
The training program
culminated in a three-day retreat, concluding with a Eucharistic celebration
presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Lumen Monteiro, CSC, Bishop of Agartala.
During the homily, Bishop Monteiro highlighted the qualities and ministry of a
catechist, emphasizing the importance of their role in spreading the Good News.
Following the Eucharist,
the candidates were awarded Certificates of Full-time Catechist, marking their
formal commissioning as catechists. In a special gesture, Bishop Monteiro
blessed and presented each new catechist with a Mission Cross, symbolizing their
commitment to evangelization.
The entire training
program was expertly coordinated by Fr. Maxim Rodrigues, SVD, Director of the
Pastoral Centre. The Diocese of Agartala expresses its gratitude to Fr.
Rodrigues and all those involved in the training program for their dedication
and hard work.
As the new catechists
embark on their ministry, the Diocese of Agartala extends its prayerful wishes
for their success. May their commitment to spreading the Gospel be a source of
inspiration to all, and may their ministry be fruitful in bringing people closer
to God.
