Brief History: In 1985, Fr. Jose Sarpathil, C.S.C.,
who was the Parish Priest in Mariamnagar was asked by Bishop Menamparampil, S.D.B.
to meet Mr. Victor Reang, in connection with getting baptized. Fr.
Adaikalasamy, C.S.C., the then Assistant Parish Priest at Mariamnagar paid a
visit to Kathalia village and Tuikarmaw English Medium School, which was
started in 1982. With the consent of the then Bishop of Silchar, the Fathers
decided to help from outside. Mr. Thanda Francis Uchoi was appointed as a
Teacher. From 1985, Fr. Jose along with Bro. Chacko Kannikkatta C.S.C., began
staying in Tuikarmaw. In 1987, the Fathers took over the management of the
School and Boarding. In 1985, ten people were baptized under Mariamnagar
Parish.In 1986, the Fathers started a Dispensary. In April 1988, the Missionary
Sisters of Mary Help of Christians arrived in Tuikarmaw. In April 1989, St.
Mary’s Parish was established. Fr. Jose Sarpathil, C.S.C., was appointed as the
first Parish Priest. There are 19 villages under the Parish belonging to Reang,
Garo, Jamatia, Tripuri, Debbarma, and Noatia tribes.
The M.S.M.H.C. Sisters left the parish in 2009,
and Sisters of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament joined the Parish, thus
making their pioneering presence in the Diocese in 2011. Today, the S.A.B.S.
Sisters are responsible for the Girls Hostel, the High School and Health
Centre.

Brief History: The School was started by the United Pentecostal
Church in 1982. Since they could not manage, they approached Holy Cross Fathers
at Mariannagar. In 1987, Holy Cross Fathers took the entire management of the
School. Fr. Jose Sarpathil C.S.C. was in charge. In 1988, M.S.M.H.C. Sisters
joined the mission. The School was
raised to the Secondary level in 1997 and then, in 2018 it became a Higher
Secondary School.

Brief
History: Holy Cross High
School, Lukhu was established on 20th March 1998 by Mokrioh Society headed by
Mr. Kanulal Reang. But due to poor infrastructure and lack of funds the Society
could not manage. It was at this juncture, that Fr Abraham KJ, C.S.C., the
Provincial of Holy Cross Fathers approached the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters (U.F.C.)
of North-East Province. At his request, they took up the challenge and accepted
the offer. On 6th July 2015, Holy Cross Junior Basic School was handed over to
the U.F.S. Sisters with 203 students on the rolls. Sr. Jessy D’Cunha was appointed
as the first Principal. Construction work started and on 11th March 2019, the
New School Building was blessed by Bishop Lumen Monteiro, C.S.C., and was inaugurated
by Mr. Mevar Kumar Jamatia (Tribal Welfare Minister). In February 2020, the School was up-graded
into High School.

Brief
History:
In
2009, Mr. Badal Chowdhury, Honourable Minster of Finance and P.W.D. expressed
his desire to open an English medium School in his constituency, Belonia. This
offer was directed to the S.Sp.S. Sisters. Sr. Bernedetta, the Regional Superior
discussed with Bishop Lumen and the Bishop gave his assent. The first community
was set up at the Police Quarters at Satmura. Later, a land was purchased at
Sukanta Nagar in 2010 and HOLY SPIRIT SCHOOL was inaugurated with Sr. Rini
Jose, S.Sp.S. as the first Principal. The school was shifted to the present
site in 2014. In 2017, the school was affiliated to C.B.S.E. In 2021, Holy
Spirit School was upgraded to Higher Secondary level with science as the main
stream.
