Brief History:
The HODA Welfare Society at Jampuijala had been running Don Bosco St.
Mary School since 1986. In 2020, the HODA Society handed over the school to the
Jesuits with the consent of the Bishop of Agartala. With the presence of the
Jesuits, Bishop Lumen Monteiro announced the new parish of Jampuijala
comprising the neighbouring Catholic villages. The official erection of Our
Lady of the Rosary Parish was held at St Mary’s School, Jampuijala, on 28 April
2024. It became the twenty-fifth parish in the Diocese of Agartala. Fr. Babu
Paul, SJ was installed as the first Parish Priest. Th parish has eight mondolis
under it - five mondolis taken from Khumulung parish and three from Pitra
parish. Jamatia, Kaipeng, Molsom, Debbarma and Koloi are the major groups in
the parish. Vincentian Sisters (SCV) arrived in 2021 to help out in the
educational and pastoral activities. They taught in the school and looked after
the girls’ hostel. A new convent cum hostel building for girls was constructed
in 2024, and blessed by Bishop Lumen Monteiro of Agartala on 28 November 2024.

Brief History:
This school was established by the HODA Welfare Society in 1986. The HODA
Society handed the school over to the Jesuits in 2021 for better management.
The school has over 300 students from nursery to class X. Three SCV Sisters
also teach in the school. The Jesuits manage the Boys’ Hostel, which has nearly
100 students.
