Lourthusamy’s arrival, the Fathers bought the land with a small bamboo house and Frs. Hormis and Lourthusamy started residing in the village. In 1986, a Dispensary and a Hostel were started with 30 students. In 1987, St. Peter's Parish was established with Fr. Hormis John as its first Parish Priest. Fr. Joseph Kunnath became the Principal of the School. In 2009, St. Peter’s Parish was rechristened as Good Shepherd Parish. At present, there are Catholics from 14 villages belonging to the tribes of Darlong, Garo, Halam, Reang, Debbarma, Chakma, Tripuri, and Adivasis. There are 2 Hostels for Boys and Girls. The School has classes from Nursery to Class XII.

In 2006, Fr. Mathew Ullattil C.S.C., bought a land in Chailengta for a School. In November 2014 it was shifted to the present place.  (This Centre became a Parish in 2021.)

In Dumacherra, the villagers started a School in 1996. After 18 years the villagers requested the Holy Cross to take over the school completely.  So, in 2014, the Holy Cross Fathers took charge and Fr. Jerome Chorei C.S.C. was its first Principal.
